Morris dancing team, the Ryknild Rabble will be supporting the Walk for Heroes this weekend – by dancing at the George and Dragon, in Alrewas. Paralympic gold medallist Lee Pearson will start the charity walk, which has been organised to raise money for wounded soldiers. The walk will go from Trentham to Alrewas village, the site of the National Arboretum, on July 11. There will be routes from five to 30 miles long, which can be walked, or cycled. The starting point for the full 30-mile walk will be The Toby Carvery, Longton Road, Trentham. Walkers and runners need to arrive at 7am, and cyclists at 10am. The starting point for the 20-mile walk is The Saracen’s Head, Stafford Road, Weston, at 8.30am. For the 10-mile walk the starting point will be The Ash Tree, Armitage Road, Rugeley, at 10am. And for the five-mile course, walkers and runners should meet at The Olde Peculiar, The Green, Handsacre, at 11.15am. On July 12 there will be a service of dedication for Help for Heroes, and The Royal British Legion, at The National Arboretum, at 3pm. There is a £5 registration fee to take part in the walk.
