The National Memorial Arboretum has launched Facebook and Twitter sites. While the Arboretum has many thousands of visitors per month to its own website, www.thenma.org.uk, the move into social networking will provide it with new channels, and get information to a wider group of people. As well as receiving many thousands of veterans, and families who have recently lost loved ones, the Arboretum is also attracting people who are keen to learn more about their family history and forge stronger links with the past. The new online resources will help reach these people. With a programme of more than 200 events scheduled over the coming 12 months, from sunset wildlife walks to high profile Armistice Day commemorations, the new Facebook and Twitter groups are also seen as a way for people to keep up-to-date with news. Facebook users should search for ‘National Memorial Arboretum’ and Twitter users should go to http://twitter.com/National_Arboretum. |
