The UN weapons team investigating the Syrian regime's use of chemical weapons has been attacked by sniper fire as it set out in convoy for the area where hundreds of civilians died.
A statement said the lead vehicle was "deliberately shot at multiple times" by unidentified gunmen in Damascus.
A spokesman for UNSecretary-General Ban Ki-moon ,said the shooting occurred in the buffer zone area between rebel and government-controlled territory.
He said the team will return to the area after replacing the vehicle.
The team plans to visit the site in the suburbs of Damascus where an chemical weapon attack occurred last week.
