Anglers netted a bumper £800 for St Giles’ hospice as well as a ton of fish, when they took part in the Golden Maggot competition at Curborough Fishery on Sunday. A total of 70 competitors took part in the event, organised by Terry Turner. First place went to Steve Pierce of Tamworth with a catch of 92lb 8oz. Second was Clive Poole of Burntwood, 61lb. Daz Green of Rugeley, was third at 43lb 4oz. Fourth was Kevin Salt of Lichfield, 41lb 6oz, fifth was Clive Stevens of Lichfield, 39lb 6oz. Junior winners were Yasmine, 12lb 8oz, and Alex, 12lb 10oz. Organiser Terry Turner said: “Once again it was a very successful day and I would like to particularly thank Curborough Fishery and all who sponsored the event.” |
