A Rugeley teenager has won gold medals in a prestigious competition at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium. Ian Cope, 17, took top spots in the 200m and 400m races, and in discus, at the 2009 npower Regional Athletics Competition for Disabled Athletes. Ian was one of the five-strong Cannock and Stafford Athletics team who between them scooped 12 gold and two silver medals. Kevin Rodgers, community involvement executive for npower, said: “Ian has shown remarkable consistency over the past few years and we congratulate him on achieving an amazing six personal bests this year.” |
