A new seven-a-side netball league has won the backing of two of the sport’s stars – mother and daughter Jane and Ellie Rogers. Jane, a member of Meriden netball club, said: “It’s fantastic what Netball-Leagues.co.uk are doing. They’re providing an opportunity for all those aged over 16 to get back into one of the biggest ladies’ sports.” Her daughter Ellie, who represents the Midland National Talent Under 19s squad, and Parkside netball club, added that the venture would be a good way for individuals to get into the game, even if they were not members of a team. Matches will be played on Tuesdays every week, at Tamworth’s Rawlett community sports centre. Each team will play a weekly match, and each player will receive a free polo shirt in their team colours when they join the league. There will be a weekly match fee, of approximately £4 per player. All profits will go to environmentally sustainable projects, and national charities. For more information, visit www.netball-leagues.co.uk, or call 0845 230 2340. |
