The secret corners of the Shugborough estate will be open to the public during Father’s Day tours. Visitors on June 21 will have a chance to wander through Lord Lichfield’s private arboretum, usually closed to the public. They will learn about the estate’s rumoured connections with the Holy Grail, the enchanting garden follies, and links with secret societies. The walk finishes at the Shugborough Lady Walk Tearoom where an afternoon tea of sandwiches with home- made cakes and refreshments will be served. The route is two miles long over flat terrain, though parts of the walk are uneven. Sturdy footwear and warm clothing is advised. The walk begins at 11am on Sunday June 21 and costs £10.50 per person (including food). Booking is essential. To reserve a place, call 01889 881 388. |
